Marine surveys cover the vessel herself — her condition, the quantity of cargo she has loaded or discharged, damage she has sustained, and her compliance with flag and code requirements. Baltic Kontor attends vessels in Latvian ports on instructions from owners and managers, charterers, P&I clubs, hull and machinery underwriters, and their brokers and lawyers.
Which survey is required depends on why it has been called for:
- Condition surveys — the state of the vessel at a given moment, for club entry, purchase, vetting or valuation.
- Draft surveys — cargo quantity established from draught readings, with hold and hatch-cover inspections.
- Damage surveys — extent and cause of damage to hull, machinery or port facilities, and the cost of repair.
- P&I cases handling and survey — attendance and evidence gathering on club instructions.
- Marine safety inspections — flag state inspections for the registries listed on that page.
- ISPS, ISM & MLC — security assessments, ship security plans, audit and certification.
Survey attendance is arranged in Riga, Ventspils and Liepāja, and in Klaipėda through the Lithuanian office.
