Baltic Kontor provides cargo tally services in Latvia when the number of identifiable cargo units needs to be checked during loading or discharge. The surveyor counts the units within the agreed scope and records the figures observed during the operation. A tally is useful when the parties need an independent record of how many units passed through a handling point.
What the tally covers
- Counting identifiable cargo units during loading or discharge, as instructed.
- Comparing the count with figures provided for that purpose, where instructed.
- Noting differences found within the agreed scope.
Tally and weight are different measurements
A tally records the number of units handled. It does not establish their total weight. Where weight or bulk quantity is in question, see cargo quantity control. Both checks can be included in a wider instruction when the shipment requires them.
During cargo operations
Tally attendance may form part of a loading or discharge survey. The record reflects the units actually counted and any difference identified within the agreed scope. If a shortage is accompanied by visible damage, a separate cargo damage survey may be relevant.
