Baltic Kontor carries out cargo hold inspections in Latvia to document the condition and cleanliness of cargo spaces before loading and, where required, their fitness for the intended cargo. The inspection may be instructed independently or during a draft or dry cargo survey. Its scope depends on the cargo, the vessel and the condition that needs to be established.
Hold inspection scope
- Empty hold condition and cleanliness.
- Fitness for carriage of the intended cargo where instructed.
- Technical condition of the cargo space.
- Silver nitrate testing where applicable.
- Issue of cleanliness certificates where the inspection calls for one.
Hatch-cover inspections
Hatch covers may be inspected visually and, where instructed, by ultrasonic or hose testing. These checks help document a condition that can matter in later water ingress and wetting claims. The required method is determined by the instruction and the vessel.
Hold inspections may take place alongside a draft survey or as part of dry cargo survey attendance.
